Club Centenary Year 2010

The Duff House Royal Golf Club celebrated its centenary year in 2010. To commemorate this occasion, a number of centenary activities were arranged, mainly condensed into a ‘Week of Celebration’ running from Saturday 26 June to Saturday 3 July 2010.

The week was a wonderful occasion with members and guests taking part in a number of competitions, such a Hickory Competition, a PGA Pro Am, an Invitational Event with local clubs, a Past Champions event and numerous entertainments laid on to commemorate this special occasion.  There was also a History Exhibition, with a number of old clubs, memoribilia, photos and of course golfing feats allowing members to look back at the past.

A Centenary Committee was assembled to organise this special event and it was largely due to the efforts of DHR member, Sandy Chalmers that the event became the success it was.   Sandy’s contribution extended to the publication of the 100 Years Centenary Book.   His contribution to the book was enormous, involving painstaking research, writing, encapsulating and of course publishing.   A member for over 60 years, Sandy was honoured at the December 2010 AGM by being awarded Honorary Membership of the club.  A fitting ‘book-end’ to a wonderful Centenary Year.
