Duff House Royal Pro- Am Programme 2010The first ever Duff House Royal Golf Club PGA Pro Am Tournament was held on Wednesday 30th June 2010, with a full field of 42 teams taking part. The event was a big success, with excellent weather providing for low scoring and a convivial atmosphere making the event all the more memorable. Blairgowrie Pro, Stuart Reekie came within 1 shot of the overall course record, with a 61; setting the Pro record along the way.
James Cameron, told the P&J and Banffshire Journal:
“The PGA Pro AM competition went very well. We were very fortunate to have had perfect weather for the whole day which really does help a competition run smoothly. There was also a real sense of excitement in the clubhouse with the low scoring and that added to the occasion. We had 42 teams taking part in what was our first ever Pro AM so there is a good chance this event will be repeated in future – maybe not every year but perhaps biannually. I must thank our main sponsor Gordon & MacPhail for supporting us in hosting this event and to all 42 sponsor teams for their participation. I would also like to congratulate Moira Allan, Stephen Cresswell and Ross McAuslin who qualified from their respective Medal sections to take part today – this in house competition raised £225 for Age Concern, a local charity so it’s good that its not just the golf club that has benefitted from the Pro Am.”
Centenary Chairman Brian Sutherland:
“I have spoken to a lot of both Pro’s and Amateurs and the general consensus is that the course was in fantastic condition for the Pro Am; our Head Greenkeeper Gordon Leslie, Assistant Derek Anthony and the team did a great job to get the course immaculate. The lowest score was 61 by Stuart Reekie, with the course record 60 so it shows the standard of play was very high. Our in house staff did a good job keeping everyone refreshed and giving them such a memorable day so we must thank them for their efforts. We also had the ex-boxing World Champion Alan Minter as a evening guest speaker and he amused us all with his stories and background. The feeling we take away from today is that it the Pro Am was a huge success and a big day for Duff House Royal Golf Club, during our Centenary Week.”
